Job Overview

To manage the Payroll function for Williamson Dickies Europe (and any affiliates requested).
Responsible for operating payroll within company policy and legal requirements. Calculating according to best practice and regulatory guidelines. Providing support to employees and the business around payroll functions, including forecast, reviews and analysis of costs.

Departmental Overview

Finance has three key areas, Transactional Processing, Commercial Finance and Accounting & Tax, however they work as a team to provide quality work and service to the Williamson Dickies brand.
This role reports to the Finance Manager, who is responsible for the Transactional Processing team, and will be working alongside Cash & Treasury, Accounts Payable and Credit Control with strong liaison with Commercial Finance and Accounting & Tax teams.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Calculate, input and process payroll records monthly. Incorporating all changes such as starters, leavers, pay adjustments, absence, pension, bonus, car allowance, personal details and any other detail that impacts on payroll.
  • Design, update and maintain systems for collating and communicating payroll information.
  • Work with external stakeholders such as payroll bureaus, pension providers, benefit providers, tax authorities etc… and internal stakeholders for employee information and changes, for the correct processing and reporting.
  • Develop forecast and review reports for Finance and Management to enable accurate forward planning of costs, annual review of salaries, quarterly and annual bonus calculations.
  • Balance the payroll accounts, and check payroll liabilities, by assessing calculations and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist colleagues in other areas of Finance as required to promote team-work and ensure peak periods are managed effectively within the Department.
  • Carry out any other Finance task not unreasonably requested.
Essential Requirements
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Finance, Payroll or Accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside confidential and understanding nature, with the ability to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong managerial, planning, organizational, decision-making, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and lateral thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Thrives in a busy environment and handles stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Team player, willing to help other areas to work as one Finance team
  • Ability to organise own workload and meet demanding deadlines and targets whilst maintaining high levels of organisation as well as accommodating multiple tasks
